A political science major with the hopes of becoming a high school teacher, my love for film and photography became too much for me to ignore. I left my full scholarship at Southern Illinois University and took a year off to decide if I wanted to film school or photography school. Choosing the International Academy of Design & Technology in Tampa, Florida with a major in photography, I became completely obsessed with the art. While in school the world had turned digital and so much of what I was studying was revolving around the digital world of photography. However, the way that I saw the world through a camera was more appropriately expressed through the analogue medium.
After receiving my photography degree, my mentor and teacher Pierre Deurterte encouraged me to keep pursuing my love for the traditional forms of photography. I took his advice and never really looked back. I sold all of my digital cameras and began only working with 35mm, medium format and large format cameras.
